hoover 7.5 kg megaload optima?

I have misplaced my user manual for this washing machine which has been placed temporarily in the garage by our builders. They have fitted the hose under the garage door to an outside drain. On a wash cycle the water runs into the machine and straight out again. The drum does not turn unless I change the control to the spin cycle. I am not aware of the water heating up either. We have checked the filter which is clear. As I remember, the hose used to be upright against the wall whereas at the moment it is flat down on the ground, but I don't know if this is significant.
