Boiler not firing up in central heating but ok in hot water?

I tried to install a room thermostat, whne i turned it on it blew the fuse, i changed the fuse but the central heating wouldn't work anymore, the temperature knob is no longer making a click everytime i turned it clockwise.

sounds like you may have welded the contacts in room stat when you blew the fuse???(now not clicking).there must be a wiring issue or you have wrongly wired it if it blew fuse.
