I have same problem and have received spare part from Hoover. Only problem is I can't remove the old part. I realise there are twin prongs that need squeezing but can't actually get them to squeeze enough to be able to remove the old switch. Don't want to destroy the old switch to get it out as I am afraid of damaging the fixed part as well. Any ideas please?

Hi Mrs Wilson,
the same thing happend to my Purepower. It has nothing to do
with the height adjustment; if your machine is similar to mine,
then it has to do with the button you press down on with your
foot to release the upper body; it is probably broken. This part
can be purchased from Hoover spare parts.
Hope this answer solves your problem.
Kind regards, Mr M Wheelan.
