How do you replace the drum of a Whirlpool washer?

The spring has come off the drum and I'm struggling to replace it - any ideas?

Use a car jack to raise the drum. Should give you enough play to get the spring back on. Also check the dampers - shock absorbers at base of machine, sliders may need greased.
