The door catch of my Zanussi 1012 has broken with the door shut and cannot be opened. How do I open the door? Can I get a new catch fitted? The machine is very old but in perfect working condition. I cannot afford to buy a new machine for the sake of an inexpensive plastic catch. Pleas advise.

hi,you can purchase a door catch of a ebay user called appliancehelp,i've just purchased a part from this supplier that my local repair shop wanted ÂŁ80+ for,for less than ÂŁ30 hope this help's steray

Get a piece of very thin strong wire wrap around a couple of dolly pegs (to prevent wire cutting in to fingers) hold in the 12 and 6 o clock position, slide the wire under the door catch keeping TENSION on the wire move both ends of the wire towards the door hinge end and outward at the same time, the door will open as the catch clears. replace the catch CHEAPER than the machine .catch ÂŁ5-10 max MACHINE a couple of HUNDRED guess which one i prefer to PAY.
