how do I fix my dyson DCO1?

Hello David. To access the switch on your DC01. Remove the dirt container in the usual way, then lie the cleaner flat and lift the part that allows removal of said container. you will then see a small panel with one screw. I found a very small flat head screwdriver was needed to remove the screw. I hope this information is helpful.
