Mend Whirlpool AWM1250 Washing Machine Problem

whirlpool AWM1250 WASHIN MACHINE PROBLEM?

hi we have a whirlpool awm 1250 washing machine
when you set the programmer to the cycle you want and switch on the machine it does not fill or turn,and yet there is power to the machine as the programmer clicks and hums.
the machine will do a drain cycle.
can anyone suggest the possible cause of of this problem
