the sound on my Sony Vaio doesnt work how can i fix it?

Please can you advise me how to fix the sound on my laptop.it is a Sony Vaio model number PCG 9P7M (PCG-K115B).Could it be the settings? The sound just doesnt work.

Is there a sound card? If so it could be that it isnt installed properly, you may need to re-install it.
