Just noticed your question which is quite old now. If you're still having problems, it sounds very much as though you have a power board problem. The GDS 3000 whilst having an improved power board over the earlier models does often still fail after a few years. Most likely causes are the voltage regulator chip and electrolytic capacitors. If you are technically minded this is usually a reasonably easy fix. Parts can be obtained online, even complete boards. However, you would need to consider whether it is really worth the cost of a repair. You can probably get hold of another GDS3000 or digibox for not very much, especially as Sky Plus has made a lot of the older digiboxes redundant.
