Fiat Punto Indicators are irregular?

I think the problem is with the indicator stalk, when i wiggle it around it tends to work but other times they just refuse to come on? Is this looking like an expensive job?? When the indicators do work they are not at a fast speed tend to be quite slow!!

Leanne ..... when they do work correctly have you checked that each indicator is working correctly on the outside of the car? A bulb could have blown which will cause erratic operation. There is also a relay usually in your fuse box which operates them ..... also quite easy to change yourself. Have you "fiddled" with the indicator stalk to see if that's the cause? Also have a look around the backs of the light units to see if there are signs of corrosion or broken wires.
