Mend Fiat Punto 52 Help Car

Wiper motor problem on fiat punto 52 reg, please help!?

I got in my car after heavy snow without realising the wipers had been left on, this appeared to stop the motor for a minute and now they go the other way ie. from vertical to horizontal! The resting position for the wipers in vertically in front of the driver. The motor is still working, it just goes left to right not right to left! Is there any way of fixing this please?
