Mend Sony PlayStation 2 Cd Works

How do you fix a sony playstation 2?

My son's playstation will only play certain games and dvd's. How do I fix this problem? We have tried the CD cleaner and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Can you help please.

The first question is...is the PS2 chipped (modified). If it is then it will only play certain games and DVDs.The second question is , is it a UK model. Overseas models from US and Japan will not play all games and DVDs even if the TV has NTSC palyback. If the answers are No and Yes, then clean the lens with either an optical wipe or a small air pressure cleaner. Machines kept in cupboards collect dust and will not always play. Failing that call the PlayStation hotline....they always have some good suggestions
