Mend Toshiba 32 Blinking Light Power

Blinking red light next to power button?

I have a Toshiba 32 " (7 yrs. old). I shut it off with the remote and when I came to turn it on again....there is only a black screen....with the red light beside the power button blinking. It won't come on either with remote or manually. There is nothing in the manual that explains what is going on, can you help?

it sounds like you may have a dry joint possibly in the power supply but could also be around the line output transformer.
take the back off the tv lie the tv down on a soft surface (towel/carpet) and look at the circuit board for melted solder burnt track and the like
