how can i fix the starting proproblem on my peugeot car 406?

Hi I have a 406 1.8lx 1996 and have had this problem for about 2 years. Engine cuts out Intermittently, Loss of power at various speeds engine management light comes on this lasts about 1 minute then ok for a week or two weeks or three!!! sometimes i can get a whole month with no problems Yipeeeeeeee!!! some internet sites I have checked out say this could be a faulty coil pack I think they cost about £100.00 I don't want to fork out that to find it is not the fault. O I forgot REVS when idle,revs up too 2000 then down too 500 sometimes stalls.Phoned Peugeot No Help. I cleaned the Earth leads where they are attached to the clutch housing I read this on the internet and it has fixed the idle problem. problems with instrments, speedo works then not, Windscreen wipers slow to start and have stopped working then start working, fuel gauge has a mind of its own this is an intermitant fault too. Have phoned Peugeot they say they are not aware of any such problems with there cars PEUGEOT NO HELP! if you spend a bit of time on the internet I have been on for 1 hour and have found 20-30 people with the same problems ?????? maybe we should get together (Watchdog) or something.
