Its an easy fix, the red and yellow wires need to be swapped. Cut the red and yellow wires from the radio, before the ISO connector and connect red to yellow, and yellow to red, but only from the radio, not the cars wires. The yellow is supposed to be the constant, but on a few cars its not, the red is the constant. This is how I fixed this problem on my Passat. After doing this although the memory held, clock, stations etc. when I power off the radio, there is a constant hiss through the speaker, this happens even when the ignition is switched off, and the immobilizer enabled. I as yet have not found a cure for this, other than buying a half decent unit.

I hope this helps.

Assuming your vehicle was kitted out with iso plugs or and adaptor to make your stereo bay iso plugged, the obvious first point is check you're well connected together, and that none of the wirees have been shaven or cut on metalwork inside the dashboard. On my kia, I had to repair the wiring loom after the previous owner had savaged the stereo plugs, and I discovered a weak connection to one of the 12v in lines. The one that comes on with the ignition controls your display, the one that supplies constantly is the one that powers the memory of your stereo. Also, I found that a bad battery had blown half the dash board fuses, but not enough for me to notice, taking out the constant power line. this also caused the memory to drop. that was a busy weekend with a multimeter.

I hope this is a help to you.
