How can I get a stuck video tape out of my Magnavox TV model number MC194DMG

Sorry, but you're going to have to take the lid off! First of all unplug the vcr. Remove the screws from the lid, place them back in the lid so that later you know where they came from. Now, you are just going to have to take some time and work out why the tape is jammed. I'v just thought, if you've got a digital camera, take photos of the inside of your vcr before you start getting involded. It may proove to be useful later when you attempt to put it back together again. Right then, It must be said that I'v never heard of your model of video player and obviously i can't see inside it, so my advice is simple. Take your time, don't start taking it apart if you've only got half an hour spare. As I said before be sure to unplug it before hand. However, it may become apparent that the releasing mechinism is not working properly or the tape from the cassette has discided to wind itself round something. So you may have to plug it in to opperate the video, perhaps the eject or play functions. If you do have to plug it in, please keep your fingers away from any electrical componants, those shiney soldered parts. Im not a professional in these things, but i have unjammed and mended my brothers video on more than one occasion when his son decided to stick into it things that don't really belong inside video players. On one occasion this included his fingers. Anyway on all occasions it was something to do with the releasing mechanism or the tape wound round something. If its the tape that has jammed, keep in mind that you may have to cut the tape to release the cassette thus sacrificing the programme recorded. I would think it very unusual that the problem would lie with any of the circuitry.
Hope this helps.
