My waste disposal unit isnt working?

depending on the design, the mechanism that does the grinding inside the disposal may be jammed - without placing your hand at risk, unplug the disposal - get a flash light and a very long screw driver. without using excessive force, try moving some of the movable parts inside, juggle it back and forth along its rotation axis, there maybe more then one movable parts and they may be interlocked so one part jammed jams the whole thing (this depends on the design of your unit) - do not use more force then say the amount of force for blowing your nose, or you might end up investing for a new unit. remove screw driver, plug the unit in and toggle the switch.. does it turn?

had the same problem last week. checked manual and it told me to inset an allen wrench (your unit may even have come with a key) in the bottom center and free the unit that way. Possibly has something stuck in it. rotate back and forward until it comes free.
