Most likely you have broken solder joints in the vertical section of the mpc board. This is why it takes appx. 3 min before it seems to break down. Hair line solder cracks expand when they heat up.

You would only get one line if the horizontal sweep output is faulty. More likely the IC that outputs all this.

sounds like it may be a horizontal frequency, or sweep problem (resulting in vertical lines)

I've got a no vertical sweep problem on my JVC.
bought a 42" inch plasma, but want to fix the 29" inch JVC 'cause it's still a great TV.
I just need to source the parts.
