Mend Samsung SP43W6 Bought Tv Picture

Samsung SP43W6 focus issue?

I have just bought a Samsung SP43W6 rear projection TV. The picture initially was very poor and particularly the left hand side was severely out of focus. Auto focus is on. It occasionally seems to try and re-focus, but 'CHECK FACTORY DATA' appears at the top of screen and the auto focus system does not seem to do its job as the bar does not progress and the process stop within a few seconds. Is it faulty, or is it normal? The picture has improved, but still not right.

Hi.

Sounds like some one has been in to the engineers menu of the set & messed up the eeprom settings.
Its not that difficult to correct as long as you have the original tv remote. You will need the service manual for the set which you should be able to download for free here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2
Follow the instructions on focus & convergence to the letter. You will only be making adjustments with the remote DO NOT TOUCH THE CRTS or do any physical adjustments all you need is the manual & remote.
