Mend Ford Fiesta Working Removed

How can i fix my speedo, on my ford fiesta P reg?

The speedo on my 1996 p reg ford fiesta has stopped working, i removed the dials from the dash and checked the cable was connected properly in the back, it was fine. Is there anything else i can try? is there anything on the gearbox the cable runs too?

i thought that was the rev counter?

yes the cable runs into the gearbox at back of it.on the left as you look at the engine.if you uncouple it and pull it out.you can turn the inners of the cable and it should show you wether speedo is working.
