Hotpoint Mistral Fridge Freezer - Fridge compartment not working?

I've got a prob with this make of fridge freezer. The freezer is working but the fridge does not. have had a couple of engineers to look at this and they both changed the thermisters in freezer...still same prob after a few days/weeks...could it possibly be the thermister in the fridge compartment or something more serious...really fed up with hotpoint. will make a mental note never to buy their white goods again

hi,i have hotpoint mistral fridge freezer,freezer working fine,fridge not cooling,opened rear panel in freezer,fan wasnt working,had it tested no power,so bought new fan,where the two wires plug in,tested with multi-meter,theres seems to be no power to new motor,pls any ideas why no power to new fan motor!

Amazed! I fixed it!! Thanks to the advice here. And I'm only an ordinary Joe who knows not a great deal about anything! Symptoms were this - fridge not working temperature more often too high than lower; Freezer compartment (behind back cover) freezing up bottom RH corner mostly. Flow fan working but not always switching itself on - or turning off too soon - after fridge door closes (which automatically give a boost to the fridge. I was flummoxed. From reading things here and elsewhere I thought it might have been the evaporator thermistor. Took it out - cleaned terminals etc. Looked fine to me. Put it back - same problem. Worked for a while after defrosting ice (usually with a hairdryer!!) only a day or two then ice was coming back. Finally took the plunge - bought evaporator thermister (yellow one). Very careful to put new one back in exactly the same place as the old one and - miracle - it's been working absolutely fine for three weeks now. How the hell a thermostat in the freezer controls the fridge I don't know - but it works!!

j'ai un congelateur Mistral frostfree Hotpoint qui est en disfonctionnement actuellement. En effet, depuis un certain temps, le congelateur ne congele pas. Sur son ecran de controle, on peut lire E2 comme symbole de la panne. Que dois-je faire.

ive got a mistral and the display is not working so i cannot tell what setting i have it on ...but i keep making a guess as the stuff feels hot and it never seems to get any colder ...so im guesing now that the thermostat has gone ...ive also cleaned the bottom grill ...its now starting to smell any guesses as to wat one i change please x

I have a mistral(not sure of model number but it does not have a digital display on the front) and came back from a week's holiday to find the High Temp warning light on. Neither the fridge nor freezer were chilling but the frozen food had not thawed so I guess the fault had just occurred. The unit was still making its usual humming noise. Any ideas?

I have just had the same problem and it turned out to be just an ice blockage. Turning the machine off for an hour or two allowed it to melt and cure itself. Worth trying before changing components!

Hi, I have just been though this one. Tried everything, read all the forums. If you turn it off over night and then back on, does it work for a couple of hours?? if so its the yellow evaporator sensors (part number 2601683) in the freeze, its located behind the back wall of the freezer compartment. If you disconnect/remove your fridge freeze will work, but will frost up. Its a quick fix till your part arrives.

I cant get my fridge to 3 degrees, the temperature will not change from 18 degrees.

first make sure that the switch that turns off the light is getting actuated as u close the door this is a common fault as the door drops with time 'if u open the door and depress the switch if u are quiet u should hear afan start to whirr now try the same by opening and closing the door if u dont hear the fan the door needs liftingif u do then try open the freezer door and on the inside u should see 2 screws that hold the plinth cover on, take this off and thoroughly clean any dust from behind use the vacuum hose,if its not these probs then call an engineer cos averything else is much 2 tech 4 a non eng
