why wont my alarm work it is a veritas 8c?

The reason why your alarm wont set is because u have an open curcuit on a zone.
when u set the alarm a red light will show on the panel or key pad indicating a zone number or tamper which wont go out!
maybe a magnet missing from a door, faulty pir or a tamper fault.
If so consult an alarm engineer

It sounds like your battery in the control unit needs changing. It wont be expensive (circa £30) and you can change it yourself.
