How to fix my on/off switch on my Hoover Self-propelled Windtunnel vaccuum?
How do I fix my on/off switch on my Hoover Self-propelled Windtunnel Model U6451-900 vaccuum? The on/off switch feels the same as it switches from on to off but with no effect on the machine. Thankfully it is stuck in the on position so I can control it by plugging and unplugging it in the meantime. I started taking out screws and after about 8 screws I was still not able to open up that part of the machine.
There are 2 screws on the back of the handle. Remove those. There are 2 screws next to where the wire goes into the unit. Remove those. The neck and handle will slide off as one piece. The switch is a simple rocker switch on the back of the unit and you can remove it with a little pry form a screwdriver. It is a simple switch you can get for a couple dollars at Lowe's. Take the switch with you to get the correct size.
