Mend Snapper 1241 Mower Gear Clutch

Snapper 41 inch riding mower with disk drive will not run in reverse?

I have found it impossible to ajust the disk drive on the 41 inch Snapper mower so that it will run in reverse gear and still have appropriate speed in forward gear. I have replaced the disks in the drive. Everything (clutch, etc.) seems too tight. IT IS A Snapper 12 41 Disk drive mower.

Your shifter is bent. Suggest making shifter slot about 2 inches longer past the reverse slot. Mine has worked great since. Sounds half-ass but works better than bending shifter back to original shape all the time.
