Mend KitchenAid 3952537 Heavy Top Washer

How can I fix my Kitchenaid Heavy Duty Top Load Washer?

Our Kitchenaid top load washer is not agitating or spinning and is making a growling noise. The lid switch seems to work OK. Model is 3952537. It has a direct drive no belts.
