how do i fix my fisher & paykel smart drive 051?

If the pump is not the problem try the diverter valve. You will know which is the problem because if it is the diverter valve the water will just pump out the bottom and into the "waterfall" that it uses in the first cycle, it will never divert the water out of the tub. I had a repairman out twice........they were convinced it was the pump......i told them what the problem was (since it was in warrenty fisher paykel wouldn't allow me to fix it myself) they took forever to believe me . they replaced the pump twice and never got it to work at all. 2 weeks later they put the diverter valve in and it wouldn't work because they installed it the wrong way...when i tried to point it out........they acted like I was an idiot. of course it wouldn't work......they left and my son (a high school student ) put the part in the correct way and guess what It's working great. Customer service is horrible and the only authorized service in north NJ have no clue what they are doing. Beware when calling for service. If you are handy you are better off fixing it yourself

If you take off the plastic cover of the lower section at the front of your machine you can see the Water pump. After you disconnect the power to the machine the pump is easily removed. The pump is held in place by a plastic retaining clip, all that is needed is to hold this clip outwards and rotate the pump about 20 degrees or so and then pull down and out, be careful at this point as water will run out so you may need to lean the machineover as these pumps dont really like getting wet
