windows will not start ,get screen telling me to try modes,none work.gateway tells me to reinstall with disc,i start comp with disc loaded and it tells me to hit r for recovery,i do that then it says starting system recovery please wait,waited 6 hours and nothing,gateway techs are no help,only 3 months old

The recovery console is not something to play with. Are you putting in the factory settings CD Rom or the Windows Disc? If nothing works, I suggest booting your PC with the Windows CD in and reinstalling from scratch
