Mend Hoover Noisy Spin Cycle

Whats causing a noisy spin cycle?

I have a Hoover AB130 which is making a hell of a noise during the spin cycle. If it's run empty then there is no noise, but as soon as you have a load in there, it sounds like you have a juggernout going through the kitchen. Someone has suggested that it may be the bearings on the drum. Is this likely and if so how easy are they to change.

Thanks.

Hey Phil,

Denis has told you how to fix a Hotpoint washer. A Hoover is completely different. It's a really expensive, hard job. Time for a new washer, and don't buy another cheap Hoover.

Yes, definitley sounds like the bearings gone. I had the same on a WM63 model. The method of replacement should be the same as for this model. There is an answer I found on this site as to how to replace them. If yours has the drive wheel on the back of the drum...look through the top or possibly remove either the whole back panel or the small inspection hatch on the bac, then the rear bearing may be visible behind the pulley. The front bearing sits inside the drum outer cover at the back behind a seal. You won't see it until you take the actual drum away. It took me about five hours to replace mine, but I dismantled more than I needed to to make it slightly easier. Also, I did some cleaning up of the parts while it was apart. The telephone number for the parts line is 08709 077 077. Check out the answer to the method for the WM63. Best of luck!!
