fan belt trouble?

Sounds straight forward. Slacken the alternator brackets to allow the belt to be placed in position . ( it will be very loose ) apply some force to the alternator to put some tension on the belt. Secure the bracket bolts - tighten up to keep the alternator in position with the belt tensioned.
Do NOT over tension ! the belt shoud have a half inch of play along its longest run!
