Lamona LAM 8600?

Hi we have a Lamona Dishwasher LAM 8600. We bought a new rope hinge because one of them broke and the door fell down. However here is the problem, the new rope broke as well. We noticed that the top hook on the spring was bent and thought this may be the problem and so we purchased a new genuine spring and fitted the remaining rope hinge as we hadn't replaced the other side which seems OK.
Again the rope broke and the new spring was bent exactly as the original spring had done.
To look at the hinge and pulley wheel and everything all appears to be as the other working side. We are stumped. Have you any idea what might be wrong?
