Morphy richards steam iron ,not producing steam ?

morphy richards steam iron 332100. The iron gets hot but it does not produce any steam . I received the iron broken in this condition so I'm not sure if it should be making a noise when the steam button is pressed . All the lights seem to work as normal and no warning lights . Any help would be appreciated.
