fuel starvation?

Hi Chris,
Are you able to identify and then post a reply regarding what make/model of carb is fitted to your mower? Also an approximate age of the mower would be useful too.
This may help me to come up with more detailed advice.
Just to be sure, your mower is a Suffolk Punch 14S isn't it? I wasn't entirely sure when you described it as having a 14cc engine as they have a 75cc engine!

Rupert, thankyou, have checked all your suggestions-the mixture screw is not adjustable- but no improvement yet , it is dificult to determine if the jets are completely clear.

Make sure you are using fresh fuel, and the fuel tank and fuel lines are free from contamination first of all. Then you need to check the fuel float chamber and needle is clear and functioning correctly in addition to checking fuel jet is not blocked. Mixture adjustment screw on carb needs to be fully wound home then backed off by one and a quarter turns to set at a generally correct position. Also check that the carb is fully tightened to inlet manifold and the gasket there is not leaking.
