Toshiba RDXV60KB can i retrieve HDD recording?

this machine has broken - turn on, all lights come on then turns itself off. Have consulted engineers who say it's not repairable. Fair enough and we have a new one now but would like to retrieve a recording from the hard drive is this possible?

It might be worth asking on AV Forums. Someone might recognise the fault if you describe it accurately. They might also be able to tell you if it is possible to remove that hard disk, mount it in a suitable caddy (cheap as chips from China via AliExpress or Gearbest, etc) and read it with a PC.
