Can I reinstall software on my Toshiba PVR RDXV60KB?

I have a Toshiba PVR RDXV60KB (Personal Video Recorder) which does these functions:- Tuner for Freeview with pass-through to separate Freeview TV, VHS Recorder/Player, Hard Drive Recorder/Player (single tuner) and DVD Player/Writer.
It has started failing on timer recording and records for a few seconds, then stops. I suspect it needs a software re-install as I have over time had to force a switch-off on lock-up, using the power switch to shut down!
Does anyone know where I can get a software reload and how should I do it? I could relocate the hard drive into my PC if that would help.
