CD not working but say cd loading?

Can not get CD to work on the Hitachi AX M66, the optical light is not working

Do you mean the front panel light or the LED in the CD drive, that scans the CD surface? If the latter, remember in a CD player that is Infra red, so you won't see it with the naked eye. A digital camera might though.
