Limp mode?

Hi Dawn, Had a similar thing with my son's 206 the only code I got was a misfire code, tested everything and eventually changed the Crankshaft senor, cost about £10 from Euro Car parts. When I picked it up talking the the guy at the counter he informed me that this was a common fault. Fault has not reoccurred,

Peugeot 207 verve,July 2009 and engine size is 1.4 and its petrol,
It comes up engine management system faulty and goes into limp mode it's not temperature sensor switch as that's just been replaced and god knows only thing I can think of is manual not automatic???
