vauxhall zafira screeche noises.now in limp mode. no dash light on?

ok i have a 57 plate zafira,diesel 1,9 cdti
23 000 miles,.
recently passed mot no probs in sept, it is now dec, just had cold patch but im down south so not as cold as up north,, while we had snow the car started a awful screech nooise like a old car fan belt used to make, then it did nothing was fine a couple days, then today went into limp mode, no noise... then this afo now makes a nasty weering rattly noise??? near radiator area...
i have no engine light warning but it is in limp home mode now as i rang vauxhall to ask.?
any ideas???
