fault on dishwasher?

my diplomatic dishwasher srarts its program then stops when i open the door theres water in the bottom

If I open the door on my dishwasher when the programme is running the machine stops - they all do this else water would be sloshed all over the floor.

And I think it's Diplomat rather than Diplomatic.
