Mend Tripping Consumer Unit

Will changing plug keep dishwasher from tripping electrical consumer unit?

Dishwasher in French country house keeps tripping electricity supply in the second cycle. Will chaning the plug help or does the electronic cycle unit need changing?

As long as the house wiring is of the proper size to handle the power required to run the dishwasher (which usually draws 12 to 14 amps) then I would be suspicious of the circuit breaker. Each time a breaker is tripped it becomes just a bit more sensitive to the power draw going through, which means that it will trip a bit sooner each time. Try a new breaker and see if it remedies the problem.

First it washes (rinses) cold - then it drains - then more water is let in and heated and the detergent flap opens. Then it rinses. Then it drains and more water is heated to make steam for drying. Then it empties.

It may well be that the heating element is causing the breaker to trip - it would be my guess.

It will be the same in any country - France is not special in this respect.

Your wall plug has nothing to do with it - go ahead and change it if you wish.

Good Luck...
