Mend Parker Knoll Stuck Fully Position

How can I fix a vintage Parker knoll recliner?

I have a vintage Parker knoll armchair which has become stuck in the fully reclined position. I can't get it upright again and close the footrest down. Any ideas welcome!

My idea is this - you turn it upside down and examine the mechanism to see why it's not behaving as it should.

If you don't have the physique to turn it over then ask somebody to do it for you - a neighbour with a wrench perhaps
