Mend Smeg A42 Gas Hob Burner Cooker

Smeg A42 hob burner will not stay alight after igniting?

I have a Smeg A42 cooker. The medium burner on the gas hob will ignite but as soon as I depress the knob, the light goes out? Could you tell me if there's a way I could fix myself? Many thanks.
