Mend Valor Flame Effect Fire

inset electric flame effect fire?

I have had a brass inset Valor electric fire for some years, with coals and glass flame effect. The heating elements are fine but the fire has developed a rattle. I think it is coming from the rotating drum inside. It is a shame to dispose of it as the fire works perfectly. The call out fee is £139 so it looks as if I will just have to buy a new one. Any ideas please?

Do what I did for my Mum in Law. Learn some elcetronics and how to program an Arduino microcontroller and build an LED based flame effect system and completely replace the tngsten filament bulb and hot air fan mecahanism

It ends up much more realistic, long lived and even can have a sounder included to make random cracks of burning fuel.
