Mend Valor Dream Gas Spark Light Replaced

valor dream gas fire--no spark !?

Hi I have a Valor Dream convector gas fire, which will not spark when I try to light, have replaced 9v battery-when i try to light there is a loud clicking noise from generator unit but no spark !!! has anyone any ideas.

take the coals out from the fire and you will see where the pilot is, chances are there is soot on the electrode a quick blow usually sorts it out, if not put the room in darkness and try lighting the fire you should see the spark in the fire somewhere that will let you know where the short is.

Probably the electrode (aka sparking plug) on or near the pilot burner, the end has probably burned away over time and the gap will be too wide for the spark to jump. Parts should be available but you need to know exactly which model of Dream you have and the GC number.
