You don`t say if you have any management lights on but if the car and spanner light doesn`t extinguish after a few seconds when you turn the ignition on then you have faults stored.A very common problem on these is the egr valve sticking/seizing,sits just next to the fuel filter behind the engine but it really should go onto a code reader to see if there are any faults logged. I take it is the 1.3cdti.
