how to turn off timer to make oven work manually?

need to work oven manually but timer on and don't know when it is to activate

Switch off the electrical power and back on again - the clock will flash - set the time - any time will do - on my oven I hold down the two buttons on the left and use plus and minus to adjust the time - the auto function is all a bit of a mystery - we never use it.
