Where to re-connect loose wire on Oreck XL 9100 ?

Having disconnected some parts to clean out an obstructed tube on my Oreck XL 9100, I found, when I was ready to reconnect, that I had a loose,short, black wire whose opposite end went into the hole that led to the compartment where the lights were located. I didn't find it necessary to access that compartment because that wire's connection point was obviously not there. Can you possibly tell me where to reconnect the loose end?
