bt diverse 6450 base station not working propperly?

All wiring ok and red light on. Will charge handset and accept incoming calls, but will not accept messages. All the buttons on the base station will beep if pressed, but will not complete the function such as delete calls, play messages, swith on/off. There is no audio. Any help, much appreciated
