peugeot 307 automatic gearbox fault?

Just bought a Peugeot 307 1.6 petrol automatic on a 54 reg.in the last 2 days when I accelerate the dashboard beeps and reads automatic gearbox fault.also on the dash when drive symbol turns into a star and a dash . If anyone can help let me know
