Mend Oven Setting Grill

how can i fix my oven?

when my convential oven setting with the bar on the top and bottom of the symbol is on, the grill comes on on the top of the oven. i am certain this didnt used to happen and its stopping the thermostat being accurate and burning all my food! how do i get it back to normal?! what should it look like??!

one part of the grill element in the top of the oven usually comes on along with one in the base.Use paper to touch the top 2 grill elements and see if paper burns to test which elements are on as not all elements glow red when on.ideally you need to do an oven cavity temp check just to prove the thermostat is within calibration
