Kangoo indicators -going too fast- mot fail?

Sorry experts this is my first entry to the forum -
I have a 2003 1.5dci kangoo mpv. One of the mot fails was a flashing (too fast ) indicators, all working front and back, just going too fast. I have checked this over and found that the clicking bit (relay?) is built into the speedo pod, so its not just a question of changing the relay, any ideas on this folks, its a weird one...thanks

Luckily I got an mot testing station that let me off, but to fix the problem would cost at least £500 as it seems
all the dash would have to come out to get at the fault, its not just the part that is in the speedo pod changing that would only take 10 minutes...anyway motoring again! good car though when it is going.

Wow CDC you've hit the nail on the head there....
I had no choice but to have it looked at by Renault dealer and of course their computer.
Well, surprise, it is a on board computer fault and will require removal of dash etc etc,....cost estimated at over 600 pounds....I dont think I will be going down that road.LOL.
Another suggestion was to try out a resistor in line with the bulb, to load the power and slow the clicks down, all a bit childish this me thinks....anyway i'm still thinking next step....?

make sure that the repeater lights are working.also make sure correct wattage bulbs are fitted,21w for front/rear and 5w for repeaters.

it being a Renault it could be any weird or wonderful fault but would have to start at your flasher unit,it will be difficult and probably expensive to fit a new speedo unit and it may not be just as simple as fitting and plugging a new one in,there may be speedo problems to configure and would think the appropriate computer will be required, one thing that may be worth checking is all bulbs are fitted correctly and of the correct type and earthed ok,other than that the only other advice is stay away from Renaults/French,have you seen the amount of electrical problems on this site?
